Dad was only 8 years old when Elvis first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. So much so that he wasn’t just Elvis in our house, he was “THE KING!”. You know, this world is made up of two kinds of people. Some of you gave up work and traveled a long, long way to be here, and we appreciate it very much. “First of all, on behalf of our family, I want to thank each of you for taking time out of your lives to be here today, to celebrate my Dad’s legacy. Here’s the eulogy I shared today during Dad’s ceremony. All monies received will be matched and donated in Paul’s name to the “Hall of Heroes” Memory Care Unit at William Christoffersen VA Nursing Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Per family wishes, a private interment ceremony for family and close friends will take place at Baue – St. Your care was second to none and made all the difference in the world! Wahlen VA Hospital, the Neuro team at University of Utah Medical Center, the “Hall of Heroes" Memory Care Unit at William Christoffersen VA Nursing Home and Bristol Hospice in Salt Lake City for their compassion, support and love. Special thanks to the amazing Doctors, Nurses and Staff at George E. Louis to Salt Lake City in December 2014. He was also admired, loved and respected by his brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, friends and colleagues throughout his life. Paul was a hard worker and a proud father of two sons, Paul W.
Louis, MO, and lived and raised a family there for over 42 years, until she passed on January 16, 2012. But most of all, he adored his loving wife, Cora "Jane" Helms (nee: Kellison). He loved fast cars, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the music of Elvis Presley. Paul served honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1965-1969, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was born on Februin Connellsville, PA to Gladys Ruth Weaver & Paul William Helms, both deceased. Paul William Helms Jr., age 69, passed away on Wednesday, April 26th 2017 at William Christoffersen VA Nursing Home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
